Why Luffy is so different from other anime protagonist

It’s his simple and childish, impatient and blunt personality along with his easygoing and transparent nature.

There is nothing to hate about him actually.

He is a simple, pure, and honest person.

  • He doesn’t need some extraordinary reason to fight.

Luffy’s reason to fight for Ussop’s village.

Luffy’s reason to fight Arlong.

  • He cares for his friends deeply.

He won’t only fight for his friends. When the situation calls for it he would bring them their favorite food and is even willing to share his prized meat with them.

  • Common sense doesn’t apply to him:

He is a guy who would go to a pirate hunter and tell him that I have decided to make you my crew member.

He has no tact.

When an insecure reindeer doesn’t think of him as worthy to join his crew, that’s all the convincing he is going to get.

  • He has no ulterior motives and does not doubt anyone.

He is so innocent for a pirate that it is actually worrisome.

  • He is generous and kind

His unadulterated sweet nature is too much to handle.

  • He just simplifies everything

Chances are if you are not his friends he is not going to remember your name.

If a person has green hair, just call him green hair or if a person has a difficult name just make up a similar sounding name.

He may not be good at remembering names but he is good with coming up with awesome nicknames. -Tra guy, smokey, parrot hair split head, Cabbage etc

  • He is honest to a fault.

He cannot lie even if his life is dependent on it literally.

  • He is optimistic.

Since the start, his positive attitude is his major plus point.

  • He is fun

He posseses mischievous naivete. He is like a single-celled organism who cannot take things seriously.

  • He is not critical about people.

Do something good he would add you to his good book.

  • He fights for other people dreams

Even though he is carefree and airhead, he knows the things that really matters.

  • He is open-minded and values freedom.

Even if you want to become a Marine although he is a pirate, he would support your dream. He really genuinely empathetic person and cares for the thing’s people actually treasures.

All these little quirks and humble traits make a him a lovable chracter.

Besides how can anyone hate such a character?
